Letter against Johnson ‘unhinged’

The author of a recent letter to the editor has been keeping a pretty low profile for a while. And there you have probably the nicest thing I am going to say in this response to his unhinged rant that appeared in the Nov. 29 edition (Johnson not ideal for Congress or YSU position). We often hear pundits lament the fact that our politics has become so angry and divided that a constructive dialog has become all but impossible. May I present Exhibit A in support of why that may very well be true: Aside from the fact that the author’s letter doesn’t really have a point (aside ...

Thank you for help serving 500 meals

On behalf of the Norwood United Methodist Church, we would like to express our appreciation to the community for the help with the Thanksgiving Dinner. The volunteers who helped prepare and distribute the meal were invaluable. The generous financial donations provided help to secure the needed supplies. And the assistance from Warren’s IGA for cooking the meat was very much appreciated. Together, over 500 meals were prepared and provided to our community. As Jesus said, what you do for the least of these, you do for me. May His love shine through this annual ...

World of Entitlement

Mr. Dave Rumsey’s good advice on “Pay Off Their Student Loans?” is sound. In a way, he is instilling self-respect in our young people as well as their parents. He calls government loans as “garbage”. He says, “That the whole thing works backwards for 30 years, and it’s the very definition of a stupid government program.” He is ever so right. All that breads is entitlement. Young people are lead to believe that if they are clever or tricky enough, they never have to repay government loan. W here is self-respect? It seems that Student Loan recipient are encouraged to be ...

Not supporting Ukraine is crazy capitulation

The United States has given over a hundred billion dollars to Ukraine to help them survive the brutal unceasing attacks and invasion of the Russians under the direction of dictator Putin. Nearly half of that has been military aid. The rest humanitarian. That is an avalanche of cash to you and me but it is less than half our NATO friends have given and it amounts to 0.65 percent of our federal spending for the year. Before we helped, Ukraine turned back the Russian murderers and rapists. Now with NATO’s , and our assistance, Ukrainians have driven them from much of which they ...

Johnson not ideal for Congress or YSU position

It seems like a little sacrifice of 12,000 future leaders of our planet at Youngstown State University to get Bill Johnson out of Congress. Mr. Johnson hasn’t worked a day at YSU and yet many know what we in the 6th Congressional District have learned about what this White Supremacy puppet and Democracy destroyer has done to us in the foothills of the Appalachians. Mr. Johnson’s treasonous vote failing to recognize President Joe Biden’s record 8,000,000 (That’s 8 million) crushing election vote win against of the most racist, misogynistic, orange person ever to stumble ...

Is Trump really the person Republicans want to lead the country and their party?

I was born during the Eisenhower Administration. I grew up revering him and the others who helped destroy Hitler and his Nazis. American soldiers represented the height of patriotism and sacrifice for our country. Who would have guessed that in 2016 we would elect a commander-in-chief who evaded the Vietnam-era draft and then bragged that his personal Vietnam was avoiding venereal disease here in the USA? A man who belittled war hero John McCain for getting captured. Someone who refers to soldiers as suckers and losers. While serving as President this same individual did not want to ...
