These politicians in Columbus claim that Issue 1 defends our Constitution from special interests, but that is an enormous lie. The changes that would come about if we pass Issue 1, such as raising the threshold to pass an amendment to 60%, requiring signatures to come from all 88 counties and eliminating the 10-day cure period, would make it easier for really rich people and giant, out of state special interests to buy our Constitution. Here we go again regarding death and misfortune, in the beautiful city of Baltimore Maryland. This time two people were killed and three or more in critical condition. It seems to me unnecessary happening. If there were consequences for such uncalled for actions, this incident may not have taken place. Pope Frances defines democracy

Pope Francis said that “democracy requires participation and involvement on the part of all.” On August 8, Ohio will hold a special election that if approved would require 60% of voters to pass a new constitutional amendment, instead of a simple majority of 50% plus one. It would also add obstacles to getting an issue on the ballot. This does not sound like democracy. It sounds more like powerful institutions and political leaders trying to rig the system. The fate of the Titan submersible and its five passengers captivated the news cycle for a full week. This was a very tragic and avoidable accident, but that is not the issue. The real issue is how the American as well as global citizens were played. The “experts” trotted out never gave much of an indication of the true picture.
