It is with great interest and admiration that the nation watched Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) stand before the nation and declare that “I will do everything that I can to make sure the former President (Trump) never goes anywhere near the Oval Office again.” Wow! Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell should have such courage! Any Republican worth his or her salt ought to pay attention and begin to do some “soul-searching” as time moves relentlessly toward 2022 and the mid-term elections. This woman stands for SOMETHING. It is time for the citizens of this country to demand responsible journalism. “News” is now all about misconceptions and outright lies to sell a product. The examples are everywhere, and many in the populace don’t seem to see it. Journalism is about reporting facts, not opinion. The business students partnered with the Marietta College Golf Association to hold a benefit golf outing on April 24 at the Golf Club of West Virginia. The event was well attended and brought in more than $800 for the O’Neill Center, which will go toward our portion of a required 20% van match to procure a replacement modified minivan through the Ohio Department of ...
As Americans we love to talk about our “rights.” Children never tire of reminding parents they have a “right to free speech.” During the height of the pandemic shutdown pastors and parishioners both demanded their “right to assemble.” Those accused of a crime demand authorities respect their “right to a speedy trial” or “against self-incrimination.” Despite the enthusiasm Americans show in pressing their rights, we rarely consider where these claims originate or upon whom they are drawn. In seeking the origin of the various entitlements we enjoy as Americans, we ...
