Marietta traffic

My wife and I are daily walkers in Marietta and the disregard for pedestrians by drivers that we observe is shocking. Speed is usually well beyond the posted limits, extra loud mufflers (there’s an oxymoron) are common and there are very few drivers who yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. While trying to use the signed crosswalk with flashing lights on Third Street between Tupper Park and Sacra Via, with my grandchildren at hand, many cars sped right through the crosswalk as though we didn’t exist. Local environmental impacts should be discussed

I am pleased to see that the Marietta Times is concerned about the environmental impact of energy sources, as demonstrated by their editorial which appeared in the March 11, 2021 edition. The editorial was referring to the Vineyard Wind Project off the coast of Massachusetts, which would involve the establishment of off-shore wind turbines to generate electricity for homes in New England. All Marietta residents and visitors owe a huge debt of gratitude to Council Representative Geoff Schenkel, Harmar advocates Jackson Patterson, AJ Smith and those they are working with to focus attention on the danger to pedestrians, bicyclists, children and the elderly on Franklin Street. Gee! What happened to my Right to cast a legal vote? Not one negated by some illegal alien, or felon, or criminal fraud using some dead or long gone addressee? And the machine fraud criminals, and the unsecured, unverified mailed ballots “ harvested” or cast by persons who never had to show a photo ID? How great is $15.00 minimum wage?

Yes, it is commendable and much appreciated by senior citizens and those with challenges that our elected officials proclaim: “We need to take care of those most vulnerable in our community first in getting vaccinated against COVID-19.” These acts by our elected officials are laudable. At the same time the above mentioned categories of “most vulnerable” are put into grater disadvantage by $15.00 minimum wage, for first time workers there will be unable to find employment, as well as get subjected to having to pay higher prices for goods and services.
