Motorcyclist death under investigation

The Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a motorcyclist after a two-vehicle crash at approximately 5:11 p.m. Friday on Ohio 555 near mile post 1 in Marion Township. The crash involved a 2010 Toyota RAV4, operated by Rachel D. Wriston, 46, of Cutler, and a 1999 Harley Davidson Electra Glide, operated by Terry W. Filsinger, 59, of Grafton. The investigation found Filsinger was traveling north on Ohio 555 and crossed left of center, striking Wriston’s vehicle. Reports/Washington County ¯ A deputy was dispatched Saturday to Greene Street, Newport Township, to a report of Anthony Hinterlong being on the property threatening to shoot the family. Residents of the home stated they were outside when Hinterlong drove past the house and turned around in the driveway. Hinterlong was told he was not welcome on the property. It was reported that Hinterlong made a gun gesture with his hand and said “I ain’t going to talk,” as he held his finger up, continuing to make threatening remarks. PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Utility Board had detectable levels of PFOA, also known as C8, in its treated water when it was tested in August. The concentration of 12 parts per trillion was below the 2016 threshold of 70 parts per trillion, but nonbinding health advisories issued Wednesday by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pushed the risk threshold to nearly zero. Reports/Marietta ¯ Units responded June 8 to the 400 block of Marion Street in reference to a male subject laying on the sidewalk. Zachary Alexander Nicholas was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and resisting arrest. ¯ Units responded Friday to 602 Cisler Drive in reference to a disturbance. During the investigation, it was determined that one of the subjects, Cameron Sparkman, had an active warrant out of the State of Nebraska with full extradition. Reports/Washington County ¯ A deputy began an investigation June 6 in Muskingum Township in reference to disorderly conduct. ¯ Deputies were dispatched June 6 to 7350 Veto Road, Dunham Township, to a breaking and entering. Witnesses reported that two men were in a gray Chevrolet truck in a garage belonging to the homeowners. The males were observed carrying a floor jack out of the garage, and upon being yelled at, the two men quickly jumped in the truck and fled the area. Most local counties see increased COVID cases

Ohio’s rate of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people slightly decreased in the latest statistics from the Department of Health, but local numbers mostly trended in the opposite direction. The exception was Morgan County, which maintained the fourth-highest rate among Ohio’s 88 counties, with 351.5 new cases per 100,000. With a population of 14,508, that equates to 51 new cases from May 26 to June 8, one less than the preceding period of May 19 to June 1.
