Thanks for Zonta Club support

The Zonta Club of the MOV would like to thank the community for their continued support of our bi-annual clothing sale, the Unique Boutique. This is one of our largest fundraisers, and all the proceeds benefit our service projects, including scholarships to Washington State Community College. These scholarships benefit non-traditional female college students. We also work to raise awareness for the need of feminine hygiene products, undies and bras in the area with our Delicates for Dignity project. Lowell Masonic Lodge No. 436 held our 27th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Buell Island at the village park. The weather cooperated and was perfect for the occasion. Although the lodge does sponsor the egg hunt, we could not have accomplished this without the assistance of our local business and community partners. Tuesday is the deadline for filing and paying 2022 Marietta City income tax and first quarter of your estimated taxes are also due Tuesday. The 2022 rate of 1.85% on all earned income applies to all individuals 18 years of age and older who live and/or work in the City of Marietta and all businesses located or doing business in the City of Marietta need to file on their net profits. May 2 is election day in Belpre. Voting is a fundamental process in a democratic system. Voting is your civil right and your responsibility. Voting is a chance for the average citizen to have a voice in the people who represent them or an issue of interest. Some vote because they think their vote will count and make a difference. In today’s world when we speak of Icons, Computers come to mind. Icons have been around since ancient times. Early people wanted to leave posterity images. These images we enjoy today. The early icons were venerated as examples of goodness. A friend of mine asked me as to where I go to church. I told her that I attend St. James Christian Orthodox Church at 120 Maple Street in Belpre. I explained to her that it is the closeted Orthodox Church in the area. Again, we see Vladimir Putin trying his hand at causing more grief in our world. Another American journalist, Evan Goshkoich was arrested on charges of espionage in Russia. It seems that there are other factors in play. The White House Secretary said “U.S. citizens residing or traveling in Russia should depart immediately as State continues to advise.” What a difference less than twenty years make. It is still fresh in my memory as the peaceful coexistence was happening and thriving between the former Soviet Union and United States, as well as other nations in mid 1990s. ...
