It’s not the guns

For the past several years I’ve tried to ignore all of the insane blather by left wing socialists but the letter in the Wednesday, June 8, Marietta Times can’t go unanswered. The writer tries to blame the lawlessness in our country on an inanimate object, guns, by saying “it’s the guns, stupid.” I’d like to just say “it’s not the guns, stupid!” It’s the socialists who hamstring law enforcement by advocating defunding the police. Children die in Texas. The country cries out with pain. Congress forms a group of senators to “study” the problem and NOTHING HAPPENS. Why? On June 2 the Board of Commissioners, other elected officials, and roughly 200 citizens, attended an Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) public meeting on an application to permit a new injection well in Washington County. The following week (June 9), the Commissioners issued a public statement naming DeepRock Disposal Solutions, LLC as the applicant for this permit. The 12th Annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival Memorial 5K Run and Walk was held on May 28. The United States alone has a problem with mass shootings and gun violence because we have made easy access to guns a national priority. It does not matter that the gun of choice for mass shootings is made for war. And it does not matter that we have different laws in different states because the result is the same. More children are now killed by guns than die of any other cause.
