Marietta’s Earth Day Celebration events began April 9 with the return of the Hard to Recycle Materials Event that collected appliances and TVs, textiles, rechargeable batteries, mattresses, hardbound books and medical equipment and supplies to be either repurposed or recycled. We collected over 180 TVs, 34 mattresses, a truckful of electronics and appliances and over 1,000 lbs. of batteries that were all recycled instead of landfilled along with re-use of textiles and medical equipment. O’Conner did the right thing

Likely it is because the county commissioner is unopposed in both the primary and general elections that he made such misleading, complaining statements to Marietta Times reporter Michele Newbanks. That commissioner, named Ritter, incorrectly named Chief Justice of Ohio Supreme Court, Maureen O’Conner for the need of two primaries this year. That claim is absolutely false. As Roe becomes a central issue in the news recently, it is important to clear up some of the confusion that the left has created in this national discussion. Unfortunately, fringe feminists have convinced the American public that a change in Roe would outlaw abortion from Maine to Hawaii without exception. What a pleasant surprise, listening to Leo Kotke at the Peoples Theatre on Sunday afternoon. The Esbenshade family made this all possible with their generous endowment. We recently moved to Marietta from the bustling suburbs of NYC, in Connecticut. It took a while to settle in and get accustomed to small town life. Abuse of power

Whether we see it in government, industry or the church; the abuse of power is the ultimate sin against our humanity. Leaders of all stripes need to be aware that those they lead have a basic human right, albeit, “God-given” to ask questions, call out injustice and request a fair review of their grievance. Those who would lead and forget this basic tenet will feel the results of their mistake at some point. Lowell Masonic Lodge No. 436 held our 26th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Buell Island at the village park. The weather cooperated and was perfect for the occasion.
